Ash, Sterling Silver, Enamel, and Glass Micro-beads.
Crystallized is an experimentation of surface, structure, and function within jewelry. These six, enameled and hand carved wooden rings reference the process and growth of crystals. They explore the connections between a physical state and a technical process. As the glass beads fuse to the enamel and metal, I am reminded of the processes that create numbness in my hands. Wood acts as the bone structure for the crystals to inhabit and the enameled beads are a visualization of microscopic debilitation. When worn together, they restrict the movement and function of my hand. With these rings I am questioning the purpose of jewelry. What does it represent? Is it an outer expression of who we are or can it reveal what is happening from within?

Crystallines created through layering and fusing glass micro-beads to enameled wire, and amorphous wood forms are hand carved.
